If you enjoy foreign or arthouse films, you’ve likely seen Danish actor, Mads Mikkelsen, playing lead characters that are anything but villainous. His movie Another Round just won The Academy’s Oscar for International Feature Film. In fact, his character, Martin is quite a departure from the heavies he plays in Hollywood. Not only doesn’t he kill anyone or die in the film, but he’s also a schoolteacher and family man attempting to recover his passion for life.

Hannibal Closer to Revival as Amazon Cuts Major Deal to Acquire its Rights Holder MGM.

The two major entertainment powers announced their big move this week: storied and iconic MGM is to be acquired by giant player Amazon, whose PrimeVideo service just celebrated 10 years in a deal that appears to have been in the works for some time.

This led to immediate speculation on social media and elsewhere whether the award-winning Hannibal series, dubbed by various critics as “best series of the horror genre” and “one of the greatest TV series of all time” might be finally resurrected from the dead, along with its two main characters, who fell off a cliff at the…

Part 1 of a series examining TV viewer ratings

Prodigal Son aired on Fox through 5–18–2021

How did a show like Prodigal Son, with millions of weekly viewers, get canceled after two seasons? It’s complicated. It’s all about how viewership is counted by the networks —or not counted properly — and why.

We've all had a favorite show canceled. The Prodigal Son fandom has a large crossover fanbase with shows like Hannibal, Lucifer, and Supernatural.

A journalist’s look back at the late Brian Howe, Bad Company’s gold and platinum “Unicorn,” on the first anniversary of his death.

The first time I heard Brian Howe’s voice it was like a bolt of velvet lightning to the heart. It was the Summer of 1988 and I was driving on Route 9 that night, just outside Boston Massachusetts, headed home, and listening to an AOR radio station that hailed from Providence, Rhode Island (AOR stands for Album-oriented rock for those of you who are too young to recall the term and the Billboard music designations). I literally pulled my car over to the side of the road and sat there in a state of complete shock and euphoria, listening to…

The FoxTV series Prodigal Son with Lou Diamond Phillips could become the 2nd one of his shows to be picked up back-to-back by Netflix after both were cut by the networks.

Lou Diamond Phillips is currently playing Lt. Gil Arroyo in the FoxTV series Prodigal Son, a thriller drama about a serial killer’s son, a crime-fighting profiler.

Prodigal Son, the bullet-fast, thriller-drama about a serial killer's crime-solving son on FoxTV, has a sizeable international fanbase. This is due in no small part to Michael Sheen’s international following and Tom Payne’s stellar performance in The Walking Dead and as the “Prodigal Son” Malcolm to Sheen’s serial-killer character Martin Whitly, aka The Surgeon.

However, Lou Diamond Phillips has a huge international following, too, having exploded onto the acting scene in La Bamba back in 1987, playing the lead role as Chicano Rocker Ritchie Valens and adopted by the Oglala Lakota Sioux native nation in 1991.

Since then, Lou has…

Meanwhile, across the course of the first 3 days, crossover fans of Lucifer, Supernatural, and Hannibal, who also love the endangered TV series, Prodigal Son, joined the effort, pushing a tally of more than 460,000 tweets out to the social media grid in pleas that called on various streaming services such as HBOMax, Warner Bros TV, and Netflix to pick up the show for a Season 3. Fox announced the cancellation of the show on Monday, May 10.

Fans of 3 Other Shows Who’ve Come to Love Prodigal Son, too, Tweetstorm Pleas to Save It

Prodigal Son is currently airing on Fox Tuesdays at 9 PM ET

A psychological horror-thriller with a sprinkling of dark comedy, Prodigal Son received a flood of attention Thursday night along with the support of 3 other series’ fanbases as its tag #SaveProdigalSon and the phrase “Malcolm Bright Needs a Hug” trended for almost 2 hours from 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM ET. This occurred during a planned tweetstorm on Twitter and peaked at more than 15,000 support tweets and almost 20,000 tweets after the first 90 minutes. Plans for another tweetstorm were announced during Thursday’s event, with the repeat planned on Twitter for Friday, May 14th at 8 PM ET.

Could this be the boost the Prodigal Son series needs to get picked up by Netflix or HBO?

Prodigal Son airs on Fox Tuesdays at 9PM Eastern

Crossover fans of Lucifer, Hannibal, and Supernatural who also love Prodigal Son, the thriller series about the crime-fighting, profiling son (Tom Payne) of a serial killer called The Surgeon (Michael Sheen), which was just canceled by Fox after 2 seasons, are jumping into the fray to help save the show.

Nothing if not passionate, fans of Prodigal Son were as gutted as its cast to hear the news of the cancellation — and they are having none of it.
